Late May - Burdocks

Boiled stems and made them into patties with eggs and flour, fried in some bacon drippings. Yummy with chive butter and some parmesan cheese.

Pictures to follow.

April/May - Fiddlehead Ferns

Oops - we missed them this year! By the time we saw the ferns, they were well past fiddlehead stage. Will start looking in late April next year - by May 5th it was definitely too late.

Pickled Ramps were a Hit!

Wow, were they yummy with steak for dinner tonight!

I'll post the recipe soon. I still need to write up directions that are a little more clear. And figure out some directions to can them in a water bath so unopened bottles can be stored in the cupboard instead of the refrigerator.

Planning on doing a big batch tomorrow, as the ramps are almost past their prime for harvesting.
